How I Understand and Support Change
My work brings together several well-established psychotherapy approaches, including Transactional Analysis, Jungian psychology, Gestalt therapy, somatic psychotherapy and, where appropriate, CranioSacral Therapy.
Underpinning much of my work is a psychodynamic perspective, recognising that many of the ways we think, feel, relate to others and experience ourselves develop outside of conscious awareness. Together, these approaches help us explore recurring patterns, the influence of earlier relationships, and what may be unfolding within the therapeutic relationship itself.
You don't need to understand these approaches before beginning Therapy. They offer different ways of understanding your experience and help me tailor Therapy to your individual needs.
Transactional Analysis (TA) helps us understand the patterns we develop in how we think, feel and relate to others. It offers practical ways of recognising these patterns and developing greater awareness and choice.
Jungian psychology explores the deeper layers of our inner world, including dreams, symbols and different aspects of ourselves. It can help bring greater meaning, self-understanding and connection to who you are.
Gestalt therapy focuses on what is happening in the present moment. By bringing awareness to your thoughts, emotions, bodily experience and relationships, it can help you respond to life with greater clarity and authenticity.
Somatic psychotherapy recognises that our experiences are held not only in our minds but also in our bodies. Paying attention to bodily sensations, tension and nervous system responses can support greater regulation, awareness and integration.
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, body-based approach that uses light therapeutic touch to support awareness, relaxation and the body's natural capacity for change. When appropriate, it can be integrated with psychotherapy to work with both physical and emotional experience.
